A tribute to the
greek tea tradition

Mountain tea has a very special place in every greek home. It's been accompanying greek families during the cold winter times since centuries. Not only because it tastes great and has no theine, but also because it's indeed good for the health. The connection between "mountain tea" and "health" is strongly rooted in the Greek culture: When someone asks for a cup of mountain tea, the immediate question back is "Why, are you sick?".

Since I came to Germany, I've always had a pack of mountain tea in my kitchen cabinet. It's a must have product for every Greek. In the past years, more and more friends started asking me to bring them some tea from my holidays in Greece, or were telling me how much it helped them with health struggles.

When I heard that even some good friends back home started to deal with organic greek mountain tea professionally, I got curious and started digging into studies and reports about it. Soon it became clear to me that mountain tea from Greece is indeed a little wonder of nature. In a world full of additives and artificial supplements, mountain tea seems to be a healthy, natural alternative to maintain and boost one's health.
So I said "good bye new mobility world and corporate business" and I jumped into a new adventure: To bring a precious product from home, that has been with me forever, closer to the world.

ZAÏ is cooperating with a friends' company called Mediterranean Soil. It is established as a reliable supplier for mountain tea with a premium quality that one can see, smell and taste. Mediterranean Soil is working together with a small circle of farmers. The farms are located in Northern Greece, close to mount Olympus and the Rhodope range, in over 700m height.

I am very thankful for this cooperation. Their expertise and personal engagement is the guarantee for the quality of ZAÏ.
After the tea has dried hanging in the fresh mountain air, it's being transported to Xanthi, where Mediterranean Soil's workshop is located. There the tea is being cut by hand, sieved and packed on location into the ZAÏ bags.

ZAÏ is truly a hand made product.  

The packed tea comes straight to our headquarters to Berlin, Germany, where a small team handles your order directly. By keeping the logistic chain and the in between stops as short as possible, we can protect the quality of the tea itself - and the environment.
